Synopsis

Only on Earth takes us deep into one of Europe’s hottest forest fire zones which stretches from the north-western Spanish region of Galicia eastwards and southwards into central Spain and Portugal. The film unfolds over the course of a summer marked by extreme heat and drought, where inextinguishable wildfires rage for days, putting the local community and animals in real danger.

We will witness the sometimes humble, sometimes heroic struggle of 4 characters: a child cowboy, a horse vet, a professional firefighter and a female shepherdess, to protect their livelihoods and homes, and to keep their traditions and dreams alive.  We will also witness the unique relationship these characters have with landscape they inhabit, and with the native wild horses that for centuries have helped to prevent the fires from ravishing the region entirely.
