The Filmoteca de Catalunya presents the documentary When the Mountain Rumbles<\/em><\/strong> as part of its Dies Curts 2025<\/strong><\/a> program.

The 28-minute short film, directed by Alba\u202fBresol\u00ed Aliberch<\/strong> and co-produced by Polar Star Films<\/strong>, with support from ICEC and ICAA, will be screened on Tuesday, May 20<\/strong> at 7:00 p.m.<\/strong> in Sala Laya<\/strong> (Pla\u00e7a Salvador Segu\u00ed, Barcelona).<\/p>\n

Synopsis:<\/strong>
\nIn the 1950s, the village of Esc\u00f3 (Huesca) was expropriated to build a reservoir. The Guallar family \u2014brothers F\u00e9lix, Baltasar, and Evaristo\u2014 refused to leave. Today they still live isolated with their flock, until a new threat arrives: a highway.<\/p>\n

When the Mountain Rumbles<\/em><\/strong><\/a> has received international recognition at festivals such as M\u00e1laga (Special Jury Mention), IndieLisboa, DocumentaMadrid (Youth Jury Award), Sheffield, D\u2019A, Manlleu, Manaki Brothers, Cerdanya, Foradcamp, Granada, IDFA (\u201cBest of Fests\u201d), Catalan Film Festival Scotland<\/strong>, and has been nominated for the Gaud\u00ed and Goya Awards<\/strong>, also winning at Big Sky<\/strong> and GoShort<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

About the director:<\/strong>
\nWith an empathetic and collective gaze, Alba\u202fBresol\u00ed explores rural landscapes and tight-knit communities with remarkable sensitivity. The Dies Curts<\/strong> session will also include her works Domus<\/em> (2020) and El bon auguri<\/em> (2024), highlighting her intimate and politically engaged style.<\/p>\n
